Introduction to the Benefits of the E-1/E-2 Investor Visa Non-Immigrant Classification

The “Investor-Visa” is the best visa for intending commercial enterprises or businesses that wish to expand their reach to the United States. These visas can include individuals, start-ups, and ongoing businesses.

The Investor-Visa, or E-1/E-2, is a non-immigrant visa that is versatile and allows businesses to easily transfer founders/investors and employees to the United States. This visa has some special characteristics, versatility and benefits that set it apart from many of the other non-immigrant visas that allow applicants to work in the United States. These are a few of the special characteristics:

1. The Visa is based on a Treaty between the United States and a Foreign Country, therefore, only Citizens of certain countries can apply;
2. The visa classification is available in two forms, E-1 investor and E-2 Treaty Trader. The first requires a pattern of trade between the United States and the Foreign Country while the second requires a substantial investment in an ongoing enterprise;
3. The visa can be extended as long as the investment/trade continues;
4. The Visa request is submitted online and at the Consulate, therefore no waiting for the Immigration Service to review the file;
5. The spouse of the Principal Applicant may receive authorization to work in the United States in a employment setting separate from the Principals business.

One of the requirements for the application is that the applicant have a Business Plan. If you have a Business Plan or a summary plan that is ready for a Business Plan, and a citizen of the following countries please contact this office and we can schedule a comprehensive office or online consultation.
